I've been reading several topics about advertising for wedding cakes, and most people recommend listing on all the free wedding sites. I've been searching around on Google, but I must not be searching the right terms, because I'm not coming up with the free sites.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Try eventective.com as well as weddingwire.com. Both are free, though wedding wire does offer a paid option if you want to avoid having ads on your listing page. Good Luck!

Decidio is another one

I go to google alerts and type in cake and the city I live in and get google alerts anytime someone looks up those keywords, I get emails that link me to the pages people were looking them up on. 9 times out of 10 it's a wedding website/party planning site of some kind and usually they have "free ad" space for businesses.
