I was asked to make a gluten free cake to feed 15. That's it. NO icing, decorations or anything. They only want the cake. I will make it but how do you determine your pricing for just the cake?
not any different to any other cake - ingredients and materials, power etc, and labour. trick with undecorated cakes is i think it turns out not being that cost effective, its relativly cheap ingredients wise (although factor in for buying whole bags of ingredients you may not use again), so to turn round and charge for 4 hours labour (estimate - remember the baking time and cleaning!) for something so plain doesnt always get a good reception!
not so "weird" of a request..........though I'm not sure why they wouldn't want icing on the cake?? Most icings, even a lot of store bought icings are already gluten-free!
