Hi everyone. I received a request to make a basketball cake but I don't have a ball pan. Is it possible to make a ball shaped cake in another way and if so, how. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a oven safe pyrex dish you can bake the cake in that..Not a flat one but one that looks like a ball/bowl

Earlene Moore sells instructions for a basketball cake: http://www.earlenescakes-store.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=431&category_id=67

Her version uses two 8", and two 9" rounds.

You can see some of her balls here...scroll down: http://www.earlenescakes.com/backbasbl.htm

Thank you both for your replies. I think I will use a metal bowl that I have for a 'pan'.
