How do I make my Elmo look like he has fur? With out using buttercream?

Using fondant then?

You can prick, in an upward motion, the fondant with a icing tip, I don't remember which one works best, maybe a star tip? It will give it a rough look. I like to pipe elmo with the grass tip, but it's hard on the hands.

I am using fondant, I don't want to pipe it with the grass tip, but I did see an Elmo that was fondant and looked like some sort of pik technique was used to make the fur. Thanks....
