What are the top high quality brands of cake decorating tools? I have used wilton and that's all!

I agree--I really love my PME (yellow handles) gum paste tools. I think they're a real step above the Wilton ones.
As for ball tools, I, too, prefer my metal ball tool. My PME plastic tool doesn't have a seam in it, but my Wilton one did (I tried to sand it out but I'm still not happy with it).

Thanks! I'll look into those other brands. I don't like the wilton ball tool either!
