Hi,
I'm planning on making a cake (just from a box mix) but I would like to fill it with chocolate mousse. (again, the mousse is just a box mix, it does require refrigerating after making).
My question is, should I make the mousse mixture, refrigerate it for an hour or so and then fill the cake? I am also planning on icing and decorating with buttercream. Will the mousse last out of the refrigerator long enough to ice and decorate?
Any suggestions would help!
Thanks!!

I would make the mousse then refridgerate it as well as the cake, then take the cake out and make a buttercream damn around the edge of the bottom layer to keep the mousse from squishing out then chill that, then take it out and put the mousse on the bottom layer inside the damn then chill that, then put your top layer on cover with buttercream then chill again. I know it sounds like a lot of steps but it will keep your mousse from flattening and squishing out the sides. HTH icon_biggrin.gif
