If you are doing a 4" high cake using 2-2" pans, do you torte and fill each cake and have 4 layers or do you just fill between the 2 cakes and have 2 layers? Trying to figure out which would be the best, I want to have enough filling but I don't want the filling to overpower the cake!

Any thoughts?

There isn't really a "right" answer. I have done both, depending on the filling and the look I want when I cut the cake. I love the look of 4 - 1" layers, but it's up to you or the person ordering the cake. (Sorry, I don't think that really helped you!) icon_smile.gif

I have done both, too. I prefer the look of the four layers, but sometimes if I am pinched for time I wont bother with torting the layers. Hope that helps.

Honestly, it depends on the customer's wish. Ask them.
