A customer called today to request a sweet sixteen birthday cake for her daughter for October 16th. She said that she wanted a 9x11 (rectangular in size) sponge cake covered in fondant - checkered cake pink and black. Now if she goes ahead with the order, this will be my first order and I am excited and not too sure as to how to proceed.
I am not sure what a 9x11 rectangular cake pan (an idea of the size of the pan will be greatly appreciated) looks like and how much to charge (I am from the Caribbean) I believe in the US cakes are charged by slice, while in the Caribbean we charge per cake.
Also, how do I proceed with this order should I work out the final cost send same to her and request a 50% deposit (to purchase ingredients etc) and the balance due upon receipt of cake. Would a proforma invoice work etc. Also, I am delivering
Any suggestion tips will be appreciated.
