I made these severed fingers and I plan to use them as cupcake toppers for halloween. My husband said maybe people will be discouraged to eat them because they are too gory!! Well since these are for halloween so they should be scary icon_biggrin.gif
I don't know what to do now should I make them less horrific icon_lol.gif or they are okay for halloween? what do you think.

Those are awesome! I say do it. In fact if it were me, I'd figure out how to gore them up a bit more (red piping gel?, little bit of gangegreen (sp?)?, blackened nails?) But then Halloween is my fave. holiday and I am all about the "creepy, crawly, scary" version.

Now I want to pull out my decorations - only 2.5 weeks until October!!

Depends on the audience. Adult party - awesome. General public for sale - I wouldn't do it unless asked by a client. Probably wouldn't put on display. Sorry!

eewww great job but eeww, I'm not into alot of gore though but they look awesome. Are these for a bakery or a party? If a party are any young or small kids going to be there, they might be to intense for them.

EWWW! But awsome at the same time! I probably would not place them in a cake display for the general public where children would see them. Sorry. But this is still outstanding work.

Thank you all for your kind words. Halloween is my favorite icon_biggrin.gif
The fingers are made with gum paste. I hand molded them and used powder food color. They are not for displaying or for sell. I made them for upcoming Halloween as a Thank You for a group. I can't wait to see everybody's Halloween creations thumbs_up.gif

Last year's band concert asked for "finger food". Yep, those are what I made! They were the first thing to sell out.

LOL! icon_biggrin.gif

You should definitely use them!!...in fact it would be such a waste not to because they really are brilliant (and incredibly vile at the same time! icon_lol.gif )

If you want to gore them up a bit more, I've found that home-made lemon curd makes great pus! icon_wink.gif

My Husband said "Ewww, who would do that." However since he always says I never take his opinion into account on anything.... I think they are wonderfully gross and should be used, but not for kiddos. Awesome work.

while they are VERY realistic looking (great job) i think that they are perfect for the holiday. People might have to take a second look but I'm sure it will not keep them from eating them. lol use them!

I am torn. I just love the realism of those fingers but YUCK ..lollolol not sure I want to bite into them. HOWEVER, I would pluck them off the top and still go at that cupcake like a freakin zombie...ssooo

go for it!

These would look awesome as columns between cake layers!

Another use for severed fingers: Set the fingers on Spanish moss, tie a ribbon around the finger, and wrap in brown craft paper. Include your note or invitation on nice paperstock torn on the edges. Can send as either Save the Date or use as Halloween party invitations.

These are absolutely the best severed fingers I've ever seen!

I have an idea in my head... little hesitant to share but am going to anyway.

You know cakes with cigarllios (sp?) around them? What about using the fingers instead? Two tiers and a black rose topper.

I totally want to do this. icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif

Is October here yet?

Fabulous job! Use them!! Everyone will be amazed, I'm sure. Definitely needs more blood. I used corn syrup mixed with red food coloring for my zombie.
Herekittykitty, I LOVE that idea! Very creative as well as the lemon curd pus idea that Coral3 had.
