I'll be using it in a strawberry cake with a filling made of same whipped cream icing folded with strawberry puree. There will be no strawberry puree on the actual frosting that I'll be covering the cake with. now do I need to make a dam for the filling? if I don't then will it not squeeze out while it's settling? will the dam made of Whipped cream icing actually work as it is very soft? help please! Thanks.

Is it a cake for just family eating or for someone else . When i make a cake of this sort, (not a wedding ,etc. I just put the filling between the layers and then let it settle for just a little and then ice the cake pretty heavy with the whipped cream. I then put it in a tupperware or tight sealing cake taker and put in fridge for a while.
I do torte the layers and do as i said above. i hope i have helped you.

Add two to three tablespoon instant vanilla pudding to your whipping cream. It will keep the cream stable and yes I would make a dam for the filling.
