Hello!

I am a first time cake maker here... (actually, I'm not brave enough to make the cake... just the gumpaste figures).

My daughter's birthday is this Sunday and we are going with a Veggie Tales theme. My friend and I have made gumpaste figurines of about 6 of the main veggie characters (Bob, Larry, Junior, Laura, etc) and I was planning on just getting a 1/2 sheet cake covered in buttercream from Sam's Club and SOMEHOW placing the figures on top of the cake.

Question: will this work or will my gumpaste figures either sink into the cake or not stay up on the cake? How can I make this work?

Any questions or suggestions would be so awesome. I'm so nervous and want to order the sheet cake today if possible.

Best,

Hi AsMomma,

Are the figurines already hard en dry? if not, you can add a wooden skewer in each of them. Let them dry and stick them in de cake. They should hold up pretty well. This is the method that is usually done with putting gumpaste wedding couples on top of a wedding cake.
Good luck!
