Hello CC members! I need help with my 3 tier round wedding cake. The bride wants a burgundy and gold theme wedding cake. I gave her my idea for the cake...satin burgundy ribbon on each tier and flowers on the side. But I don't know how to incorporate the gold. So I told her, white flower with gold dust. White rose with gold dust?
Any ideas are welcome. And thank you in advance.

What about a wide burgundy ribbon, with a smaller gold ribbon centered on it? You may need to glue the ribbons together, then apply them as one.

Aside: I am teaching a young lady to sew, and we are currently creating a new homecoming dress out of a burgundy dress she wore in a wedding. We took off the skirt, and today cut... the new GOLD skirt! What a pretty combination!

I just found this cake on flickr. I love how they made the ribbon.

I found a few really nice wedding cakes with these colours which always remind me of Indian weddings. If you google the colour combo's you should find several of them (I don't know what exactly your looking for so didn't want to add them here, especially if you have a design in mind already).

I think my search keywords were "burgandy gold cake pics".

I also found a nice gumpaste pic of a white magnolia flower that appears to have a goldish center and thought maybe you might like to try something like that. Here's the link for the flower:

Go down about a 1/3rd of the page and you will see a flower called southern magnolia.

Sorry I couldn't resist adding the following 2 links. You should be able to find them by using the google search I mentioned earlier.

About half way down (just a tiny bit past that actually) you will find a cake called Burgundy & Ivory Gold Floral Cascade" @ the following link:

Good luck with the cake.
