I'm looking for a great tasting fondant for my son's birthday cake. Has anyone tried Satin Ice and what is your opinion. I've heard from several people that Wilton's fondant doesn't taste great. icon_razz.gif

Im a newbie but have tried both...wilton fondant is gross...I personally dont like it for anything but maybe making small accents...Satin Ice tastes sweet and sugary, which isnt bad. Its also a lot easier to work with!!!!

I used the Satin Ice White/Buttercream fondant for the first time today. It was a DEFINITE improvement over wilton. IMO people will still prefer buttercream but if you need to use fondant definetely buy Satin Ice instead over Wilton.

I use SI all the time, it is easy to work with, priced good and has a mild vanilla flavor. They also sell a chocolate and buttercream flavor as well.

Fonderific is good, but pricey. Choco-Pan is also very good but a bit difficult to work with especially when it is warm out.

Hope this helps!
