I was watching celebration cakes challenge on Food Network last night and one of the competitors was painting black on fondant. What were they using to paint with? I've tried painting with wilton paste color out of the container but it never seems to dry. This color remained shiny and looked great.

Most gel colors that you paint on cakes have to be mixed with Alcohol (SP).
for it to dry.

I've painted with Americolor super black and it dried fast and stayed shiny.

Ditto. I also mixed with a little bit of glycerin to test it out, and it seemed to dry quicker that way.
