Hi. My name is Lori and I just signed up on your site. I went to IMDb to see if anybody was verbally bashing DC Cupcakes as much as I was was in my head. Sure enough! Anyway, somebody on there responded to my post and suggested this site. This is like bakers porn!

I've wanted to take cake decorating for years but just have signed up for my first class a few weeks ago. I start tomorrow and I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! It's at Michael's and the class is with Wilton. I bought the mac-daddy of their sets because they said that would be everything I needed for all of their courses. I'm supposed to take 6 cookies tomorrow night. I guess that's easier to get started on than a full blown cake LOL Anyway, I baked sugar cookies today.

I took a cookie decorating class this past Saturday at Campbell's Gourmet Cottage (www.gourmetcottage.com) and had a blast with that. One lady in there said "This class is fun, cake decorating is work". I thought that way funny.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and I wanted to see if anybody had any tips for me as I walk into my first class tomorrow night.

Hi! Welcome! I just signed up for the class at Michaels too...my course starts next Monday. How much was the ultimate kit? Im trying to figure out which one to buy (the smaller kit or the big kit, since I plan on taking all the courses)
Let us know how your class goes!

It was $199 but I used one of Michael's 40% off coupons thumbs_up.gif The reason we sprang for the big kit was they said it had everything needed for all of the courses so I thought, meh, knock it all out in one pop. Plus I'm a bit OCD and overly organized so I liked the idea of having it contained in one place and being able to organize it LOL.

I hope everybody is prepared for me to pick their brains to a painful extreme when I get back from my class tonight! I'm overly excited! I've wanted to take this class for years. I don't know what took me so long!

So glad you found CC! And yes it is baker's porn!...LOL! You will become addicted.

One thing you should absolutely do is search the hundreds of thousands of pages of the forums to learn as much as you can. If you have a question it probably has already been addressed at some point in some forum here on CC. Just do a search on the forums for a topic question you have and more than likely you will get many threads that pop up.

Good Luck tonight and have fun! See you here later icon_smile.gif

I had a great time tonight! The teacher is a little...uhhh...grumpy but the ladies in the class (5 of us) were a lot of fun.

All we did tonight (hands on) was to use a star tip and practice piping on cookies we brought it.
