I have a problem! I'm making a cowboy hat and I've added cmc to my fondant (satin Ice) to form the brim. It's been 4 days and the brim is not hard enough. Have I done something wrong and need to start over, or can I maybe dust it with cmc or cornstarch to draw the moisture out?

Any suggestions???

Thanks for your time

Hi there,

Not sure what cmc is but I usually just add tylose to fondant and then let it dry for a few days till dry...it can take up to a week. If I need it faster than that I use pure gumpaste and it dries very quickly.

CMC is another name for tylose. Try placing it in the oven with just the light on- no heat. Or place it in front of a fan.
Next time you mix the cmc with fondant add a bit more.

Thanks for the advice, I still have a couple of weeks before it's due so hopefully it'll harden up some more. I'll try putting the fan on it as I'm afraid to move it to the oven at the moment. Next time I'll definately add more CMC.

Thanks again for taking the time to help out.
