I am trying to make a replica of a wedding cake for a 50th anniversary. The picture I have is not real clear so I am having a hard time deciding what to do around the edges. Does anyone have any ideas on what tip I should use and what style??? Thanks!

It looks to me like perhaps it's a C-motion border. A picture of that border on a blue cake is posted below, and here's a link to the instructions and information from the Wilton website:

Top border is the huge duck's beak leaf tip--#366.

The bottom is too blury for my to see well, but I think may just be large shells upright with smaller shells in between.

I agree with BlakesCakes on the top border, you can see it pretty well on the middle tier on the right. The bottom border doesn't look like a border at all to me. It looks more like just large dots every couple of inches.

I tried to mess with the lighting a bit to see if it helps see the borders clearer.....not so much of a help.

Looks like almost a swirl of a rope border, but more space out on the tops of the cakes and the "c" motion on the bottoms.

looks like something like the piping on the far right of this photo only elongated a bit and done on the edge of the cake......what do you think?

Thanks for the blown up photo, K.

I stand by the large leaf for the top. I now think that the bottom border is a widely spaced "E" motion.

I think the top border looks like hearts made with a large round tip 1/2 on top 1/2 on the side and a swirl on the bottom like blakescakes says an e motion

I was thinking e-motion on the bottom, too. But I'm not familiar with c-motion, so I could be off base here.

Agree on the borders; what are you going to do about the swans?
I was thinking about something like these favors.

WOW! You all are amazing! Thanks so much for all the input. The cake is for next weekend so I am going to play this weekend with all the suggestions!

As for the swans...Global Sugar Art has them (believe it or not!) They have the hole for the support post to go through. I think I ordered 12 for around $6.00. Cheap!

Thanks again for the advice!
