Can an edible image be applied to fondant?

definitely can. This cake here has edible images on all tiers of the fondant covered cake.

Yes you can, i just mat with fondant and stick on using water. Just becareful sith pic, I only get edges wet, just enough to adhere to fondant mat. I use water, some use piping gel. I just don't want colors to bleed.

I use piping gel never had a problem

Crisco works well too and gives a more time to slide around as necessary!
