I know it's early but I have no idea how to decorate a cake for a man. The cake will be carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting. Any ideas on the theme? Also, any recomendations for a recipe for cream cheese frosting? Thank you.

I always pick a theme that has something to do with the man himself, his hobby, his work, his passion, his family. I love the grill cake that looks like a bbq with meat cooking. If you look in the galleries you will find great ideas. Search racing or horses, or golf, etc.

I can recommend my crusting cream cheese recipe:

Good Luck!

MAKE HIS FAVOURITE cartoon, beer, etc.... go for boys toys, cars, drill, all that stuff... they love it all... its fun making men cake, cause as "macho" as they pretend to be... they love being spoiled like little boys and really love all the attention and fussing over them... good luck

I made a "man cake" for my SIL's birthday recently. He is a "Jack of all trades" type of guy hence the idea to make this cake.....in my photos.
It had a saw, screwdriver, hammer, ruler and pencil on a small 6inch cake.
I made it look like it was a tree stump, although the photo in my book was a block of wood..
If you want, I can send you the photo and how to for this cake....

Here is my recipe for a cream cheese topping, which I just recently learnt how to do and works great!

100g/110ml Butter (at room temp.)
200g/375ml powdered sugar
100g/100ml cream cheese
5ml vanilla essence

Cream butter and powdered sugar
Add cream cheese and vanilla
Refrigerate for a short while to set and
then frost your cake...

This is enough for just one cake... with maybe a bit on the side.

Ok, I have an idea for the cake. This cake is for my dad and he really likes John Wayne. I want to do a John Wayne cake but I don't know to go about it. I have never done a cake like this before. Any ideas?

Why not do an edible image of John Wayne on his horse...

I'm going to try a buttercream transfer of his face or a silouette.
