Can someone tell me how you make the top of the cupcakes so perfectly round and then put the fondant on? Like in this picture.

It appears to me that there is some sort of icing under the fondant. That is what I would do, because it would be hard to get uniform matching cupcakes each time. HTH!
Wow! Rose, I didn't know that there was actually a method to get your cupcakes to have a dome like that! I just learnt something new today! Thanks!!!!!
has anyone made them ahead of time? she says best day baked, but that's not always possible
I just round the tops of the cupcakes off with a sharp knife and then use a little buttercream or ganache to smooth over the crumbs. Works wonderfully and people always ask how it's done! Gotta love tricks of the trade!
thanks for the link rose! ive been trying to perfect the technique for a while now!! i have been known to resort to baking some tiny mini cucpakes, slicing then in half and gluing to the top.. then icing.. its still gives a domed techinques... ahahaha.. im a cheat! lol
They show this in the book Planet Cake. They put ganache on top of the cupcake as frosting and shape it into a mound shape. Then once the ganache hardens, they put the fondant on top.
