I use some of the doctored cake mix recipes from this site, and need to make an oval 16x12x2 inch cake. How many cake mix boxes? I've seen some sites say 11 cups of batter, but is that 1.5 or 2 cake mix boxes? Thanks!

that would be about 2 mixes. Each mix is anywhere from 5 cups to 6 cups of batter

Are you using a doctored recipe? If so which one? What brand cake mix are you going to use and what flavor?

The different brands make different amounts as well as the flavors with in the brands.

DH tends to make 5-6 cups of batter. White makes closer to 5, chocolate somewhere in the middle, and the only one I know that makes a full 6 cups is the golden butter.

BC and Phils tend to make 4-5 cups of batter.

I've been using BC lately, white is on the lower side again, chocolate is middle to higher as it seems to rise more. I did use the french vanilla the other day it made the higher amount of the batter.

Thank you so much! I am using DH, adding pudding, extra egg, and coffee creamer. I will just use 2 boxes then. Thanks!
