I am going to attempt a frozen buttercream transfer and was wondering about the outlines. Would royal icing work so that there is no smudging or if not what should I use. Any help would be appreciated. My e-mail is [email protected]

No I don't think royal icing will work.

I use the same buttercream (all crisco) on the transfer including outline that I use for the rest of my cake.

Smugging is coming from something else. Some say the freeze the outlines, but they thaw so quickly I can't see how that really helps, personally. I have let mine crust over some, and I'm not sure that really does much either. When I am filling in I just carefully go around or over the outlines trying not to push that icing out of is spot with the icing I am add. I also do not add the second layer of icing on the back so I'm not smushing it around that way.

I do lay a piece of wax paper on the back and lightly smooth over it to make the back flat but that is it.
