I made the orange dreamcicle WASC variation for the first time. Can anyone suggest what flavor of icing? I thought about adding orange extract to my buttercream but didn't know if that would be overkill. icon_lol.gif

Depends on how orangy your cake is and how strong the orange extract is. You could try using orange juice, filtered to get out the pulp bits, in place of your liquid?

I usually add a teaspoon of creme bouquet to Indydebi's recipe along with the vanilla to make buttercream for orange or lemon cakes.

Texas. I took your advise and added the creme bouquet and vanilla to my buttercream. We had potluck at church today and I took the cake. Only had 3 pieces left to bring home. Thanks it was a big hit icon_biggrin.gif
