I need help, new to all this and even took class and go help, but keep having the same problem.

Bake cakes, next day fill, using a dam, fill with this time strawberry, didn't get it close to dam, crumb coat, but in refrigerator over night. Next day fondant, today it's been fondant out for 5 hours while doing the rest of the cake. Just noticed that it's bulging on one side. Could it be that my frosting is made with butter, I use wiltons butter cream added stay ice and had to but more frosting on it before I fondant it so it would stick, so ready to give up, but have two cake next week and need to get this right. It's back in the refrigerator now, but have more work on it tomorrow and have a 3 hour drive with it on Saturday. Luckily its for family, but one next week I'm being paid. Love some suggestion on how to stop the bulging, and I don't mean my tummy. thanks
