I used a box cake and it crumbles when i cut into it. what's up?

Oh...well, i just cut into the cake tonight and it seems much better. Is that the trick? Is cake better to work with if left out overnight?

after i bake my cake layers . i let them cool. then wrap really good and freeze them. then thaw them and ice and decorate them . then i put them in a tupperware cake container or some other name and yes, it is better the next day. and the next , until it is all gone. even the uniced layers are better tasting and better to handle and slice. hth

I always bake one day, let it cool, wrap in Saran wrap and then unwrap and ice the next day. It's much easier to handle.
