I make a white cake from scratch. I want to use a lemon cord filling for the white cake. ITs 11X15 sheet cake....for my dads 70th birthday..

I want to be able to write on the cake and decorate it saying Happy 70th B-day Dad..

Should i use a creamcheese lemon frosting or a buttercream frosting...Any advice will help..

Thanks

Eddie.

I think the cream cheese lemon frosting sounds wonderful!

Hi! I just made a very similar cake with a homemade lemon curd, and I used the Swiss Meringue buttercream recipe and whipped some lemon curd into it as well. It was wonderful. You can find that recipe under "most saved recipes". I believe it is called "The Well Dressed Cake Swiss Meringue Buttercream". Much better than the regular American buttercream recipes for texture and flavor.

Hopefully that is helpful! Do follow the directions carefully, and let it whip and whip and whip if it seems soupy.

Have fun!

Yes, I guess either of them will be fine for icing and writing. The cream cheese lemon icing will sure add some flavor to the cake!! icon_biggrin.gif
