under Modeling Chocolate? I'm going to use the modeling chocolate on a carved cake and wondered if the buttercream and the chocolate are compatible. Or if I should fill the cake and not put buttercream on the outside before the modeling chocolate? Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there!

Yes, you should use a thin layer of buttercream under modeling chocolate. It helps the mod chocolate adhere, just like when you use fondant over a cake. I've got a bunch of pics of cakes like that in My Photos, and if you go to my website at www.cakedalaska.com and look at the Welcoming William tutorial, you can see it being done.

Thank you so much, Dianna. I will look at the tutorial. A thin layer of Buttercream, will do!

Love your web site! Again, thank you.
