I have a cake that will require black fondant, and I have always made my own MMF, even black, because I usually only use it for decorations. However, this cake will require black fondant for both the bottom and top tier, covered completely- what does Satin Ice taste like? I hate the taste of the Wilton fondant and love the MMF, but I am dreading coloring the MMF black for this one.......help me?
TIA

SI black is described as "vanilla". It tastes just like white SI--very good.

It works well but can sometimes be a bit soft. I find that if I mix in 1/3 Wilton, I retain a deep black, a great taste, and something that works very well.

I would never frustrate myself by trying to make homemade black fondant. Adding so much color greatly alters the texture of the fondant, often leaving it dry and crumbly or sticky and apt to tear.

There was a MMF choc recipe on here in recipe section... then I only had to add very little black to make black
