I was wondering if anyone has any tips on using Patchwork cutters. I bought some butterflies and tried them out tonight with a 50/50 mixture of gumpaste and fondant and they just did not work out right. They stuck in the cutter and just did not cut out at all. Do I NEED to use the Mexican Paste for them to turn out right? Anyone who has used these cutters before what have you used ? What worked best and what did not work?

I love the butterflies! I grease lightly the surface, roll the fondant/gumpaste(and that is what I use too) thin. Then, lightly dust the top surface of the f/g with a powdered sugar/cornstarch mixture , press the cutter firmly into the f/g and it comes away cleanly, leaving the butterflies on the greased surface.
