I am ordering some patchwork cutter to try for the first time. GSA says to use Mexican Paste instead of gumpaste in the tutorials.

What do you use? Does gumpaste work ok with them? I already have some Satin Ice Gumpaste and was hoping it would work ok. If not, I need to order the gum tragacanth with the cutters to make the Mexican paste.

I use gumpaste and the cutters work just fine (be sure the follow the instructions on greasing that come with your cutter - this works best for me). I've never tried the mexican paste but would love to know what the difference is if you do try it!

Mexikan paste is as far as I know just a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste.
I've used my patchwork cutters with both 50/50 and gumpaste and it works fine either way. But I prefer to use PS instead of fat. Just roll your paste nive and thin and prefferably let it dry for a minute or so before cutting
