I am working on plans for a square, 4 tiered wedding cake that needs to feed 300 people. I've been looking at cake charts, but am still perplexed. Does anyone with lots of big cake experience think that a 3-layer, 16, 12, and 8 (with a smaller top tier to save) would feed near 300? Thanks!!!

16 square = 128
12 square = 72
8 square = 32
So, not 300.
Really, now, squares are the EASIEST to compute servings. A serving is 1" X 2" by height. Multiple 1 side, by 1/2 the other side = servings. For excample, 16 X 8 = 128.
Fun with math.
