Oh, I also have to mention that it is a 1920 chicago gambling house theme, kids have to come dressed up. my husband is going to play bouncer in the beginning (pat down the boys for weapons, ask everyone for passwords etc) and later on he will be croupier

We did a casino theme for my daughter's Sweet 16. Mine was a lot easier as it was not set int he 20's, very cute idea, and I'm stateside. I would suggest trying to get a roulette table and playing 21. These are the easiest casino games to play. I would get some of those beeded curtains for the entrance. Maybe some of those candy cigars and cigarettes. You can also check online for decorations.

Prob. with online shops is, that a lot do not ship overseas and if they do, the charges are horrendous, think tripple and quadruple of what you would pay at least. I know I am saving a lot by making the cake myself, but I was actually looking for ideas of do it yourself decos. I already have to order some games, luckily my hubby is going over to Germany next month, but he can only take so much on a plane

What about cutting out a bunch of card-suit shapes from red and black paper and hanging them on the walls?

I was thinking the same thing, but I was trying to think of the '20's. What would reflect the 20's. Maybe a cut out of one of the cars and some tommy guns?

Pinstriped zoot suits! And fedoras!

You could also do something with dice, maybe a bunch of them all over the table with the cake. They'd be rolling them all over the place, though.

Also I have started covering boxes with white paper, so that I can make an archbackdrop or something for photographing the kids in front of. Found some peacockfeathers as well, but I need a lot more boxes. Already asked my friends to save them (cereal boxes and square boxes of all sizes etc)
