i have a babyshower cake and hannah montana birthday cake to make for the 19th. each cake will need gumpaste decoration and i've never made it or used it before!!!! I need to make daisies and a bow for the baby shower cake and stars for the other.... any tips?

Hi, gumpaste dries very quickly. When you use it, take the amount you need for the moment and put the rest in a bag. You also can mix 50/50 fondant and gumpaste mix. That will dry hard, but it will give you time to do your work.

and how do i color gumpaste? the same as fondant? how about black?

Most of the time I buy precoloured gumpaste and fondant. If there is an unusual colour that I want to make, then I use paste colour to colour them.
