Is Cake Topping The Same As The Filling ? Please Help !

I am pretty new to the cake world and was at a cake supply store and noticed they had what it looks like cake filling but the label said it was cake topping ? So I was confused and didnt want to ask the lady there and look stupid

I would have asked, because I would not consider them the same. When I think of topping, I think of buttercream icing.

Ask. That is what they are there for is to help. It's their business, they should know what is on the shelves. Don't ever feel like it is a stupid question. No question is stupid
