i want to try painting on a cake. can you mix americolor food colorings for airbrush painting on cakes with regular gel or paste food colorings to paint on cake. haven't tried this yet and have many different colors in americolor colorings. also, can you substitute americolor food colorings for airbrush cakes to color your buttercream icing instead of regular gel or paste colorings? any help would be most appreciated. usaribbon.gif

I am not sure if this helps you or not. IF I am going to use a regular gel to paint on a cake, I thin it with something that has a high alcohol content (everclear etc,) I have diluted airbrush paints the same way to get a faint color. I have never mixed the two mediums though.

Do NOT use the airbrush colors to color frosting unless you are airbrushing. The airbrush colors are very dilute and will add too much liquid to your frosting, seriously affecting the consistency of the frosting.
