I just got a call from a local hotel that's looking for a large gingerbread house to put in the lobby. I asked how big, and she said 5 to 6 FEET tall! icon_eek.gif WTH? Is this another example of people thinking that it's normal to make giant structures because they've seen it on tv or something?

I told her I couldn't do it, by the way. Don't have time... icon_smile.gif

Heck yeah! That is crazy big. Did she know you were an at home baker & didn't have ovens that big to make a 5 foot wall of gingerbread? Hmmm. Is there anyway to do that at home & be sound? I just don't see how.

Nah, I told her that something like that would have to be made of a lot of non-edible stuff, and would take a really long time to do. I do a gingerbread house for the Children's Museum every year, and it takes me something like 60 hours once I get around to putting all the little details on it. That's for something 24"x24"x24", so I can only imagine what something 5 feet tall would entail! Lots of styrofoam and fake gingerbread. I don't see the point.
