How do you prevent your fingerprints from showing up on your figures?

I thought about that, but still wasn't sure if that wouldn't leave marks too. I guess I could at least give it a try!

maybe someone will come alone and give you a better tip, don't give up yet, okay
I use crisco on my hands and I don't see prints but I color my fondant before forming it so that might be why also

As you practice more you'll realize that the lesser you handle fondant/ gumpaste the better your figures look. I usually just smoothen the prints with my finger (kind of like buffing it) after the figures dry a little.

Thanks for the advice!

I'm going to try buffing next time. I've only done a few figures, so I still have plenty to learn. My best one has been Snoopy, but he's pretty simple!

Thanks again. I don't know where I would be without the help I get at this place! icon_biggrin.gif

hmm i havn't had this problem as such yet or either have not notcied but i would prob agree with just lgihtly rubbing over the area with your finger to help rub the finger print off/buff like you guys have been saying, and yeh maybe try gloves to see if that helps too....sorry nothing really more helpful in what i said lol

Oh I also forgot this point.... When I have excess shortening in my fondant it somehow shows the fingerprints more. Using a little powdered sugar instead of shortening as a non stick agent takes care of the problem somewhat too.
BTW your Snoopy cake is very cute. icon_smile.gif

You know, too much shortening is probably my problem. Thanks!
