How Do I Make A 3-D Car Cake?

DS will be 3 next month. I'd LOVE to make him a 3-D Lightning McQeen car cake!!

I was hunting through articles and I didn't see one on how to carve one..or any cakes sizes to start with...anyone made one of these?! I KNOW I've seem them in the galleries!!

Thanks for any advice!

start with a rectyangle the size of your car, then cut out the sides then the front and back once you have that shape you can carve in details, it really helps to have a 3D car to copy from so if your sone has a 3D lightening mcqeen i strongly advise you borrow him lol!! the closer to the exact size the better!! remember you can always stick bits back on that you accidently cut of too!!!
