I keep reading about foam cake boards and food safe covering. I was wondering if other members would be willing to share their best cake board ideas. Do you prefer disposable ones or do you charge a refundable fee for reusable boards? What is the cheapest yet sturdiest material for boards. Do you always box your cakes?

I use foamcore covered with press and seal for the boards under the tiers. For the main board I use foamcore covered with fondant...I save all my fondant scraps in the fridge and often color them black for boards. Then I glue a ribbon around the edge. For a cake that's already stacked I use a new moving box (they're $1.29 at Home Depot for a big one), for a single tier I just use the regular boxes.
