Can you use any heavy plastic to roll out fondant? I saw some real heavy stuff at joanns. Not sure weather or not it needs to be made specifically for food or not. thanks

Lots of us use vinyl to roll fondant on, the kind that comes from the craft store and is sold by the yard.

I got some of the rolled plastic from Walmart. I wasn't sure how the lightest weight would be, but I will get some for some projects. I was afraid of getting too heavy weight because I thought it might be tougher to simply let it mold around my cake when I turn it over. I pick up the whole sheet and turn the fondant over on top of the cake and peel away the plastic. I use the mid weight plastic and love it. I was able to cut it to any size I wanted to use and have a couple of them for different size projects. I just put ps on mine and roll out my fondant, no problems with it sticking at all.
