I am making a fishing creel with a reel next to it and I need to figure out how to make the fly line to go on the reel. I've seen pictures but I can't figure out what they are using for the fly line. It almost looks like spaghetti or licorice whips. Does anyone have any ideas?

Use a piece of thin cooked spaghetti.

That's what I was thinking of...but wasn't sure if it would get moldy. I need to make it a couple of days in advance.

I made a fishing rod for a fisherman's cake and ended up using real fishing line since I couldn't get anything else to cooperate!

Just an idea... Could you do a thin drop string of ivory royal icing?

I ended up using a piece of dental floss for my deep sea fishing cake.
