Is there a way to make butter cream silver?

I'm pretty sure that you can paint silver luster dust over crusted buttercream....let's see what the pros have to say though! icon_smile.gif

the best way is with an airbrush!
or colour it grey, let it crust, then dust with silver lustre dust. you can mix the dust with alcohol to make a aint, but im nto sure how well that tends to work.

Thanks to you both. I don't have an airbrush, so I think I'll try both ways and see what's best. I'm working on a wedding cake for next week, so I'll let you know which way worked best.

I made a silver cake by coloring the buttercream grey and spraying the entire cake with lustre spray. I was actually surprised at how silver it looked. The picture is in my photots, it's the Stanley Cup cake. Hope that helps!
