Ive made some cupcakes before, but not the swirl top kind. I made these for a ladies sons class for his birthday. I actually made 2 recipes, and was disappointed in the first -- although it was very yummy, it was too dry!
so i went to my no fail box mix. they came out ok but not like i'd want them. here's a pic!
They look great. Great Job!
I didn't make these, but I think I know how they are done. You can get a plastic pastry bag insert that has a divider in the middle, so you can load two different color frostings into the bag. The insert then sits inside another bag with a large open start tip. Then you pipe a rosette of frosting in the two colors on top of each cake. (Or you can just load the different color icings into a regular bag...a little bit more tricky
Williamus had it right! I did it the hard way, I put a piping bag in a tall glass and folded the edges over (for a better grip on filling!) then tipped the glass at an angle, and used my spatula to fill one color up one side, and the other color up the other. i had to squeeze about a cuppies worth out at the beginning to get it to start going about half and half. im glad how they turned out! the little boy loves Iron Man, and thats his colors, so he will love them im sure.
these cuppies look so delish! the frosting and the cupcakes peeking out from under. YUM!
Thanks guys! Now I have an order for Fall themed cupcakes! They should be great! I'm thinking spice cupcakes and cream cheese frosting-Yum!
