Why did my cake tear up? I made a cake for my friend's bday and each piece that she cut, it just broke into pieces

did you forget the eggs??? I've done that before......the cake didn't taste or bake any differently, but once it was cut it crumbled

Did she use a really good sharp knife? That really makes a difference between a good clean cut and a pile of crumbs on my cakes.

Was it dry? Dry cakes tend to crumble more.
