My girlfriend's birthday is on the 11th and I want to make her an awesome purse cake. Does anyone have any advice or tutorials? TIA!!

I haven't done one myself yet, but looking at the galleries the most realistic looking ones (to me) are the ones that have been done with edible images. The logos look like they're imprinted into the purse itself. Also, if you're going to do a leather purse, roll your fondant onto something that has texture to get that leather look (something like a placemat).
