I made some color flow pieces for a cake and was wondering the best way to attach to fondant. I have never done that before and was wondering what to use.

If I use buttercream, how far in advance can I put it on. I thought I read something about the color flow getting soft when it comes in contact with any type of grease.

Also some of the cake may also be buttercream, same question...how far in advance can I attach to the buttercream without the color flow pieces getting soft?

Thanks for your help
