Up until now, I have been making cakes for family and not charging. But recently I have had requests for cakes and I am wondering how to charge. Should it be by the size of the cake, the servings, the time it takes?

Hi, i'm fairly new too and this is a question I struggeled with as well. It seems the standard is to charge by the serving and then additional charges for flowers, cake toppers or anything extra. I called a few local cake shops and got their prices and then priced my servings about $1 lower. That is just what I felt comfortable with but really it is up to you. Good luck!

It's a hard thing to do - but definitely check with your local CUSTOM bakeries. That will give you an idea of where to start.

And you definitely charge by the slice!
