I've seen some mixed shaped cakes and some have the form of a waist. How can I achieve this look???? I can't figure it out
Thanks, Ruth
as an example:
stacked rounds starting at bottom and going to top
14"
12"
10"
8"
10"
12"
14"
now carve it to smooth out the curve
and do it all on a good base that has a center support pole rising up from the base (like you see on so many cake challenges and like Buddy did on the Leaning Tower of Pisa cake)
could do two of each size, or one depending upon how high and curvy you want it (1 layer of each = more curvy, 2 less so)

I actually ment a small waist, so would it be lets say.... like a 6",4" and then 6" again could that work for a smaller waist?
that's a MIGHTY small waist! by the time you core the cake for the pipe -- won't be much cake left in a 4" cake.
I'd go no smaller than 6"
or for the middle really small section cheat and use styrofoam

lol, it was just a thought, yeah 4" is too small. I'll take your advice and go no smaller than six in the middle.
Thanks for your help
