I have a recipe that is sort of a blah cake and I want to put some sort of flavour in it. I would like to try soaking the cooked cake in a syrup or drizzling the syrup over the layers.
My question is how do i make the syrup? Say mint or orange?

Make a simple syrup. 2 parts sugar to one part water. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Now add flavor if you want or use as is. Throw in some fresh mint or citrus peel or whatever. At this point, it is like making tea... to taste.
