I am in the middle of making my first batch of MMF. I have never made it before. Got the recipe from here on CC. I have a few questions. Do I wrap it in Saran Wrap as soon as it is done mixing?

Also, I did Wilton cake classes and we were taught to put some shortning on the fondant before wraping it so it does not get to hard. Should I do that with the MMF as well?

One more thing, I want to color the fondant. Can I do that right away or do I need to wait for any amount of time once it is done mixing?

Thanks so much.

As soon as you're done kneading the ps into your fondant, you should wrap it in saran wrap - twice. Then put into a ziploc bag or air-free plastic container. You can definitely put shortening on it before wrapping; I always do. You can color it at any time. If you need to color the entire batch, the easiest time to color is when everything is all liquid i.e. before you start adding powdered sugar. However you can add color at any time at all.
